Kelly was born and raised in the south. Can
you still be called a "true southerner" if you live in St.
Petersburg Florida? In this case the answer is "yes" !
He has those southern roots by the tail and you can hear
them in each and every song on his new CD album called "Dirt
Roads". You can say that the name "Dirt Roads" came from what
he enjoys most - getting out on the weekends and racing his
cars at the local Sunshine Action Speedway. Kelly has two
different types of racecars, one is an open-wheeled modified
that he runs on a short track and the other is considered
"street stock" that he drives in a "boomer class". He says,
"it's not too fast but it's a lot of fun"!
Kelly was raised on Country music and the early Rockin'
roll influences of Hank Jr. and Chuck Berry. You can also hear
the traditional influences of Hank, Sr., Johnny Cash as well
as Merle Haggard as you listen to Kelly's songs. He spends a
great deal of his time writing songs "for the people - about
the people", and if you really think about it this is why
Country music has been so popular. "This Is What Workin'
People Do" is one of Kelly's songs that describes the
down-to-earth everyday living that most people do.
Kelly Butler (Country Music Artist) is no stranger to music
and performing. He's been out there playing guitar and singing
in various local groups such as the Smoke Tree Band with his
brother Mike and the Dusty Rose Band with his late brother
Danny.
So much of this bio is not about Kelly - it's about "the
Music and the Fans" and he says he's been blessed with so many
great friends in his lifetime. He values talented people like
Steve Connelly and Brian Thompson at the Zen Recording Studios
who helped him produce and record this great CD project and
Jose Santos Jr. who did the mastering.
"It's kinda like getting an award," Kelly states, "you want
to thank everyone who has made such a difference in your
life". THANKS GUYS - Jeff Newton, JN Print Service who did
such a nice job on the all the art work and printing on the CD
album, Lisa and Tom Carman - who helped with the promo's and
all the day-to-day ordeals.
Many friends and family that encouraged Kelly to write his
songs, such friends like James Glover and the entire Q Motor
Sports Team as well as Ralph and Wayne Bowman and the Bowman
race team, Frank and Bonnie Hill - owners of the Sunshine
Action Speedway in St. Petersburg Florida, friends and fans -
Michelle, Bev, Connie, Soula, and Beverly - all at Kelly's
favorite restaurant - Peppers.
You are the ones that inspired "Dirt Roads" - all these
songs were written and inspired by you !!! Songs for the
people - about the people and there are songs for everyone -
written, sang and produced from the heart and soul of a great
up-coming songwriter and recording Artist.
