He's a giant of a man with a soft-spoken
manner and a heart of gold! Rickey was born up in the cold
area of the United States around the famous Niagara Falls, New
York. Most of his kin was French Canadian living around the
Hamilton, Ontario area about 60 miles from his homeland.
As a young man, Rickey was surrounded by many
musical influences including Rock and Roll and Southern Rock,
knowing in his heart that someday he'd have a musical career
as his destiny.
At the early age of fifteen, Rickey Lee
received his first drum set but soon found out that his real
passion was to sing. Therefore he was recommended to the
Eastman School of Music Vocal Choir where he developed his
vocal skills and went on to sing various "rock and roll"
projects as a lead singer.
In searching for his place in the music
world, Rickey set off for the country music capital of
Nashville, Tennessee where he sharpened his talents with the
best! He landed a job with Mr. Ray Doggett who established the
ESU Record Label. Rickey was learning from the "Master" in the
studio and was able to have Mr. Doggett as his mentor the next
five years.
In the meantime Rickey had the opportunity to
appear at the famous Wildhorse Saloon and Tootsie's Orchid
Lounge along with the whole Broadway scene singing in the
clubs of Nashville.
After his five-year experience of learning
the business side of the music industry, Rickey returned to
his home up in Rochester, New York where he put together his
own band "The Rickey Lee Watson Road Show". These members very
carefully selected because he wanted them to have the same
goals with the need to succeed.
Today Rickey Lee Watson takes to the stage
his impressive vocal range when he opens for such greats as
Jeanie C. Riley, Royce Porter (a famous songwriter for George
Straight), Yankee Grey and many Fairs and Festivals in upstate
New York. He takes pride in his performance and dresses the
part from his black hat to his cowboy boots.
ESU Records would like to introduce "Thanks
To You" as a tribute song to all of those who were lost in the
September 11th tragedy. We all have someone we can relate to
when we hear the words to this song! Buddy Hyatt who has been
such an important icon in the Nashville recording industry has
written this song, recorded it in his own studio, and produced
this masterpiece! Please take a few minutes to let Rickey and
his great management team know your thoughts and please play
this song for those who it might mean the most to!
Somebody somewhere - some place wants to
thank someone for something !!! Rickey Lee Watson would like
to thank all of the wonderful talented people who made this CD
possible - the person responsible for putting this project
together is my dear friend and manager - Mr. Greg Bodger who
believes in that somebody!!! Greg has big plans and would like
to bring Rickey Lee Watson and his great band over to Europe
to entertain in 2004!!!
